About me

I am Patricia de Wolf, 68 years old and living in Rotterdam.

For a long time I have been looking to shape my impressions of human emotions, characters, experiences or appearances in works of clay.

By working with the clay I'm trying to translate these impressions on the one hand in abstract figures and on the other in figurative objects.
I am touched by contradictions, and that is why my artwork reflects them. Reality is always stubborn and full of aspects which are nice or not nice, so I always add that to my works of art.
That is the reason I chose to work with dark clay with a coarse chamotte, which turns beautiful darkbrown with a sometimes velvet-alike glaze after firing at 1120 degrees.

My experiences are often my guidance. I also like to make sidesteps, like experimenting with metal or felt, and often these materials join together to form an amazing object.

I am mainly self-taught, but followed courses at the SKVR (Rotterdam Art School Association) where I took lessons from a.o. Beatrijs van Rheeden, Arja Hoogstad, Marijn van Zessen. In addition to that I worked with sculpturer Frank Stoopman.

I have had a studio at my disposal
in Rotterdam for about ten years now. During this time I have been able to develop myself further which has resulted in a personal style which fits my way of creating.
I love to be at the studio...
