Sculptures

I made this series of sculptures using the same technique.

From a quickly and roughly modelled body shape, I work the clay with large and small, thick and thin wooden slats. I knock, plane, cut, push and then fill again and try to follow the shape as it presents itself to me as much as possible.
I really like coincidences and use these shapes and lines by fitting them in or reinforcing them where necessary.

Eventually, a sculpture reveals itself to me that expresses my emotion, that satisfies me and that I enjoy working on very much. An image emerges from me and my feelings.

This is followed by a very precise, often lengthy finishing process where viewing the sculpture from all sides is very important. After this whole process, when the sculpture has been hollowed out, dried and finally fired, I'll give it its space.

The images all stand on their own and are unique.
It is impossible for me to reproduce them.
